Role of ions in photosynthesis
Role of ions in photosynthesis represents a recently started project. It addresses role of ion fluxes over thylakoid membrane in regulation of photosynthesis. The importance of correct ions concentration and ions fluxes through thylakoid membrane has been already recognized several years ago. However, involvement of particular ions and channel in these processes remains to be still rather mystery. So, our new experimental approach involves direct detection of ion fluxes (Mg2+, K+) over thylakoid membrane and looking for a proteins responsible for ion channeling through thylakoid.
