Futing Zhang

Research interest

Futing´s research interests mainly focus on microbial interactions, including interactions between Trichodesmium colonies and its associated bacteria as well as colony-particle interactions. The aim of her research is to probe the strategy that Trichodesmium employs to optimize their nutrient acquisition and to understand the role that bacteria plays during these processes. Other research topics involve studying the adaption of Trichodesmium to climate change (i.e. ocean acidification) and understanding the variance of nutrient limitation and physiological states between individual colonies using molecular tools.
