Guillem Pascual-Aznar´s (GPA) work focuses on the biogenesis and repair of photosystem II (PSII) using as a model organism the cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC 6803. The work is centred on the auxiliary (assembly) protein factors facilitating PSII assembly/repair, which have been found to be temporarily connected to PSII intermediates but that are not present in the functional complex (see also here). GPA has participated in characterization of factors such as Ycf48 (Yu et al., 2018) and RubA (Kiss et al., 2019), as well as in the first studies on Psb35 (Pascual-Aznar et al., 2021) and Psb34 (Rahimzadeh-Karvansara et al., 2022) proteins. GPA is currently working on an uncharacterized protein potentially involved in the repair of PSII.
